In today’s episode, Gordon talks about marketing and how to maximise growth, to help grow your business super-charge your launches.
What do you think people like? You have to take that into perspective in marketing and you need to understand what people are interested in and what they desire, before launching your new class or killer product.
When people cannot make a decision; you will have to make them take action and see the reasons why your brand new and fresh offer can help serve them.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Create the hype. You have to build awareness first. Build the excitement. Make people know through social media or any platform that there is going to be a launch. You have to have a great copy with all the benefits of the launch. Make sure it speaks, brand new and fresh because that is what people want nowadays. Give information but do not give them all the information. That will build up the hype on the launch. Let the launch gain interest and create intrigue.
Be good at communicating online. You have to be social in social media. The more reach you have. The more power you will have because now you have social proof. Communicate with everyone in the VIP list through email and text and let them know the booking date. Keep on answering comments in the launch advertisement. It will push the ad to the top priority creating more awareness.
Create scarcity. Make people have the scarcity mindset. Put a deadline on the launch. Scarcity makes people take action. People would like to buy really quickly. They all have that type of mindset like last-minute deals and offers. They would want to grab that. Tell them that it is only available to the first 25 people. That it is a first come and first serve basis.
Create a good offer. Reward them for taking action. Give them an offer such as free two weeks of classes. You are already very confident of the quality of your classes, great service, and great classes. People will buy your course before even the 2 weeks will expire. Then your business will grow naturally.
Remember to have a good landing page with great copy, great ads, great video testimonials, great normal testimonials, information on the course and how to book. They should be able to book through the landing page as well as pay through PayPal or other payment methods.
BEST MOMENTS
“People like fresh and new. People like dates. They like the time-sensitive launches. They like to know how long something is. They like to feel like everyone is starting together. Fresh and new are massive in social media.”
“When you create the scarcity, when you create the hype, when you create the limitations... and you create a great offer, people will definitely take action. You'd be amazed at how fast you can grow your school.”

Welcome to another episode of The Martial Arts Business Podcast. In today’s episode, your host Gordon Burcham explains why content variety is KING when marketing your business on Facebook, growing your reach and sparking engagement from your audience.
Learn how you too, can use Facebook to super-charge your Martial Arts business, target your ideal customer and generate an infinite amount of leads, simply by doing something different, posting valuable content and serving your audience. Do all this and you will easily grow your school and increase your sales.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Facebook. This is a great platform to market your business.
Variety. When advertising, you have to have variety. Do not be stagnant. You will want to impact the people that you are targeting. The trend in social media these days is that content is somewhat the same. All same, they just change the picture or something but most of the time, it is all the same. You have to be different. Your content must be different from those businesses with similar advertising contents.
Make a noise in social media. Everybody wants to get the piece of the pie. You have to cut through that noise by being different.
Consistency. You have to be very consistent. Post 3 or 6 times a day. It is okay. You are not spamming, you are trying to keep your business in the social media to gain an audience and target audience.
Videos. This is number one in marketing. You have to post videos that will not only promote sails but videos that tell stories about your business. About your program. You can also do live videos, testimonial videos.
Impactful. Do something different. Be impactful. All business just post sales advertisement. Don’t do that. You must give a different feel. Get their attention. Spice it up, not just selling. Your page is your television, be mindful of what content you show to people. It should be fresh and exciting to look at too.
Mix marketing. Leaflets, posters, visiting schools and communities, etc. You must do all these. Not just on social media. Your reach will grow with this technique. Remember that you will lose a lot of people if you keep on repeating your type of advertisement. Be more creative. Make time for all of this for your business.
New leads. Do all this and you will gain more leads and turn them into sales for your business.
BEST MOMENTS
Definition of insanity is, trying to do the same thing and expecting a different outcome. Marketing is so important. It is not just marketing, it’s how you market. If you want to have a much better marketing machine, you need to have a much better marketing mix. Without understanding marketing to this degree and changing it and continue into the same thing, you going to end up getting lost and left behind. I don’t want that to be you. To get something different, you got to do something different.”

In today’s episode, discover how to grow your school the simple way. Gordon discusses a simple formula for schools to follow so they can grow their school fast. From 0 to 100, 100 to 200 and far, far beyond.
This formula has a great effect on business. You have the knowledge, yes, but do you implement? Remember that applied knowledge is King! Just simplify the process, work on it and you will be on the right track. Now listen to this podcast to learn more about growing your school!
KEY TAKEAWAYS
4 programs. Growing your school might sound difficult but it is not. You just have to break down things and work on them. You break it into 4 programs. Example, 4 to 6 years old and ladies program. These two are the easiest to target in the market. You have to target 25 members per program. So that’s 4 x 25 = 100 members in the school. It sounds really simple if you just break it down. 4 programs is also easy to launch.
2 new members per week (40 per month). You have to bring in just 2 members per week. You have 4 programs. So that is 40 members per month. You have to focus on this. There are different demographics in your area that you can target. You can use Facebook ads, leaflets, etc. 2 members per week is not a lot.
Market correctly in Facebook or Social Media. You have to invest in marketing. What you put out there will go back to you. You have to market correctly in social media. You have to know that 10000 to 30000 reach is a good thing. You have to have a budget of at least £20/day running straight 5 days to get your target market.
Oversubscribed. You do not have to worry about this. Put them in your waitlist. That way you can choose who you like to be in your school. Do not stop, just keep going, you have to be oversubscribed. It is a good thing for your business.
BEST MOMENTS
“Many school owners, they think it’s difficult because they’ve never done it. When the reality is when you break something down in that simplistic form that we do in martial arts… you go out with any goal and make sure that you achieve it and focus on the marketing the attraction. You’ve got your external marketing, your internal marketing, your referral marketing, your offline marketing, your online marketing, your social media marketing, if you did all of that for each program, you can’t fail.
“The only one holding you back is you.”
“That’s how it works. What you put in, you will get out. Marketing is an asset in your business. It brings you more. It brings back so much.”
“The most difficult thing is to teach people that you invest in your marketing to get it back out. You’ve got to invest it in the right strategies and the right formulas to get the right results.”

Create a free mini-course for the kids in your community. Spread the news: create a Facebook event, print flyers, etc. Gordon suggests to run it for at most 14-days.

Every day in your business and everyday in your life is so precious, so use it wisely. Be happy on your journey, it's where you spend the most time and always look at other people for inspiration, look at other people for motivation but don't let it control you because if you have a negative state you'll receive a negative outcome.
BEST MOMENTS
“Most people want to have their black-belt straight away, they don't realise it takes years of practice. When it comes to business it can be a hard slog but you need to persevere and not knock yourself down.”
"sew the seeds to reap the harvest"
"People don't take action right away, you need to keep nurturing, all of the time"

“All you have to do is change you, ask yourself what do I need to do differently in order to get a different outcome tomorrow”

Learn how to work on your business, not in your business, do what you love and outsource everything else. As business owners we have a habit of trying to do everything ourselves, and as martial artists we are used to controlling our minds, controlling our bodies and managing everything around us. But to be successful in your school you need to be able to let go and and break the control mindset.
Gordon urges you to to love what you do and set yourself free, and as a result you will become more creative, make a difference and serve others. Discover how to do what you do and love what you do in today’s inspiring episode.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Most martial arts business owners have a pattern of control running in their business and in their minds.
Break the control mindset, it's a delusion. You have no freedom and you feel stressed and whilst you're trying to control everything, you're really controlling nothing
Ensure you get someone in your business that will do that things you’re not great at. You need people around you that love the things that you don’t love.
Dissect your business and break it up into job roles and the type of people you need in order to fulfil those roles. Don’t have the mindset that staff and people are an expensive to your business, staff and people are a huge asset to your business.
BEST MOMENTS
"There's a pattern of control in martial arts business"
"Previously I had a massive control over my environment and believed I was the only one who could get it done"
"There's always someone who can do it better than you, no matter who you are"
“Consider how much your time is worth to you”
